Stacy Dash has Always Been Clueless

Cluelessness is Stacy’s natural habitat

Stacy Dash used to be an actress and now she’s known for finding new ways to piss off the black community at large. On the show Fox & Friends she said…wait. I won’t even paraphrase. I’ll let her speak for herself.

“STACEY DASH: We have to make up our minds. Either we want to have segregation or integration. And if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards where you’re only awarded if you’re black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.
STEVE DOOCY (HOST): So you say there shouldn’t be a BET channel?
DASH: No, I don’t think so. No. Just like there shouldn’t be a Black History Month. You know? We’re Americans. Period. That’s it.
DOOCY: Are you saying there shouldn’t be a Black History Month because there isn’t a white history month?
DASH: Exactly. Exactly.”

Lets start from the beginning. She says “either we want segregation or integration”. The USA is integrated on paper, but not in practice. If it was integrated we wouldn’t have white communities, Asian communities or Hispanic communities, we’d have communities. An integrated America doesn’t have a China town in every city.  Some really smart people from UCLA actually studied the segregation in NYC.

“While segregated schools are located throughout New York state, the segregation of schools in New York City — the country’s most heterogeneous area — contributes to the state’s standing. Of the city’s 32 Community School Districts, 19 had 10 percent or fewer white students in 2010. All school districts in the Bronx fell into that category. More than half of New Yorkers are black or Latino, but most neighborhoods have little diversity — and recent changes in school enrollment policies, spurred by the creation of many charter schools, haven’t helped. – Gary Orfield “

We essentially were never truly integrated and many reports say black people were more prosperous  under segregation.

Next. She says we shouldn’t have channels like BET and we should get rid of the BET Awards and Image Awards where you’re only awarded because you’re black. Cleary she doesn’t know how the BET Awards or Image Awards work. She may be salty because she has never won an award. Period. Like never. I checked. If you got an award just for being black, where’s mine?! I an black and woke to the core! She said if it were the other way around we would be up in arms. LOL. We are up in arms now. You just proved everyone else’s point.

And the Big Daddy Cane of them all “THERE SHOULD BE NO BLACK HISTORY MONTH BECAUSE THERE ISN’T A WHITE HISTORY MONTH. Actually its called Jan-Dec. All 12 months are dedicated to the celebration of whiteness. Everyday whiteness is celebrated. White women are celebrated for having big butts, small butts, being weird and quirky or being sexy and spicy, having red hair or blonde hair or brown hair, white men are celebrated for being smart and nerdy or being athletic and strong. The list goes on. What are black people celebrated for everyday? Don’t worry I’ll wait. That’s why we get a month, which is a step up from the week we used to get in 1937.

Stacy, stop being clueless and go read a book!

Do you think black cultural institutions like the NAACP Image Awards the BET Awards are necessary today? Or like Stacy  do you want to get rid of Black History Month? Let me know.

Yeah… Stacey is like a lot of people who just doesn’t understand the levels of hypocrisy within our American society. Her thinking is the same as those in the 1950’s (whites and blacks) who were proponents of the “Separate but equal” way of living.
I bet she doesn’t understand the value or know why there are HBCU’s in America.
I agree with her on the issue of race, as I would rather be known as an American, not a black American, because the only race I believe in is the human race. And it shouldn’t have to be different award shows, different TV stations, or different schools for whites and blacks. But… I live in a nation of white construction which is America.

I understand where Dash’s coming from but that’s only if you don’t understand the concept of “anglo-heteronormative”. I think I spelled that right. I like how Constance Wu uses it at: http://time.com/3696111/fresh-off-the-boat-constance-wu/ And the whole “separate but equal” mentality that Jason talks about (and I believe I mostly agree with) would only work in theory IF and ONLY IF equality while being separate was possible in America. (It doesn’t even work in Asia with the separate but homogeneous countries, look at the economies and lifestyles of the different countries: are they equal?) But considering currently we live in a country where the haves and have nots are very racially identifiable, we need some separation in celebration to avoid apathy and erasure from history. (The main have is being considered American or Normal.)
